I came to writing late, and I had to learn most of it the hard way. One of the more important parts of writing — storytelling — is something most people either have, or don’t have. The mechanics of writing are skills that can be learned. The storytelling can’t be.
This section covers the nuts and bolts of writing fiction: how to build characters readers care about, how to write dialogue that sounds like real people talking, how to plot a story that keeps readers turning pages. And how your voice affects the way readers respond. A lot of this applies to nonfiction too.
